Your gynecologist for colorectal cancer screening in Munich
The immunological test for hemoglobin in stool has a significantly higher sensitivity and specificity compared to the old test methods (guaiac test). For example, even preliminary stages of a colon tumor can be better detected. This was proven in a comparative study with 2,200 participants at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). This test should be performed once a year as a preventive measure from the age of 45, provided there is no increased risk of colorectal cancer.
From the age of 55, patients should undergo quality-assured colonoscopy as the method with the highest sensitivity and specificity.
If patients do not wish to undergo colonoscopy, the immunological stool test should continue to be used annually.
